Net stableford
Points against par off your full course handicap: two for a net par, one more for every shot better, nothing for a net double or worse.
- Any number
- Own ball
- Singles
How it’s scored
- Net score on each hole is your gross less the shots you get there.
- Net par is 2 points, net birdie 3, eagle 4. Net bogey is 1. Anything worse is 0.
- A blob costs one hole and no more — the next tee starts at nought again.
- The total is the points added up. Most points wins.

The fine print
What is a hole with nothing in it worth?
Nothing yet. It is a hole you have not played, not a nought, and the running total says how many holes it is through.
Does a match play or shamble day still count for the stableford?
Yes. Every round scores stableford and birdies off the full handicap whatever format it is played in, so a week of mixed days still gives one order of merit.
How are birdies counted?
Gross and net, out of every round. A birdie is one, an eagle two, an albatross three. Gross birdies order the board; net birdies break the ties.

- Eagle2
- Albatross3
One card, several competitions?
Put one gross score in and the stableford, the birdie count, the skins and your match all move from it.
- Stableford3points
A shot here off his full twenty, so a net three. Net birdie, three points.
- Birdies1net birdie
A four on a par four is nothing gross. The net three lands on the net birdie board.
- Skins2skins
Lowest net in the group and nobody matches it: the hole, and the skin that carried.
- The four-ball4net, halved
In the match he plays off nine, and nine shots stop at S.I. 9. No shot here, net four, halved.
