Terms of service

The deal between you
and score70

score70 is free, and it asks two things in return: that organisers take responsibility for the people they add, and that everyone uses it for golf. This page is that agreement, in plain words.

Who you are agreeing with

score70 is a trading name of CBI Digital Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, number 16146193, registered office 1 Textile Drive, Brockworth, Gloucester, GL3 4WD. In these terms “we” and “score70” mean that company, and “you” means anyone who uses the site or the app — whether you created an account, scored a round from a link, or only looked at a leaderboard.

By using score70 you agree to these terms. If you create an account, you agree to them for yourself; if you create a trip, you also agree to the organiser’s responsibilities in the section below. If you do not agree, the remedy is simple: do not use it.

These terms work alongside the privacy notice, which says what score70 keeps and who can see it. Where the two overlap, the privacy notice governs personal data and these terms govern everything else.

What score70 is

A scoring app for a group of golfers

score70 lets a group keep score on their phones: an organiser creates a trip, adds players and courses, sets up the day’s rounds and formats, and everyone enters scores hole by hole. Leaderboards, match results, skins and stats are worked out from those scores.

It is free. There are no plans, no tiers, no card and no trial. If that ever changes it will be written on the pricing page first, and nothing you already have will be taken away or put behind a charge without notice.

We may add, change or remove features. We may also stop offering score70 altogether; if we do, account holders get at least 30 days’ notice by email and a way to take their scores with them.

Accounts

One person, one account, over 18

You do not need an account to score. An account lets you organise trips, claim your name so your scores follow you, and see your own stats. To create one you must be at least 18 and give an email address that is yours.

Keep your password to yourself; anything done from your account is treated as done by you until you tell us otherwise. If you think someone else has used it, change the password and email hello@score70.com.

You can delete your account at any time from the account screen. Your scores stay on the trips they belong to, with your account no longer attached — the privacy notice explains why.

Organisers

You are adding other people

When you create a trip you type in other people’s names and handicaps, and their scores are recorded against those names. You are the person who knows them, so the responsibility for that sits with you. By organising a trip you confirm that:

  • you have a genuine reason to enter each person — they are playing in your group;
  • you will tell them the trip is scored on score70 and point them at the privacy notice, so they know what is kept and who can see it;
  • you will choose the trip’s visibility with care — a new trip is private, and a trip you make unlisted or public by link can be read by anyone who has the link — and switch it back to private if anyone in the group asks;
  • you will remove or rename a player promptly if they ask you to, using the tools on the Players page, and pass on any request you cannot handle to privacy@score70.com;
  • you will not enter anyone under 13 without a parent or guardian knowing.

The names you give trips, groups and players are visible to everyone who can see the trip. Keep them to things you would be happy for the whole clubhouse to read.

Acceptable use

Use it for golf

You may not use score70 to:

  • enter names, trip names or anything else that is abusive, defamatory, obscene or unlawful;
  • record or attempt to read another group’s data, or probe the service for trips you were not invited to;
  • scrape, copy or republish leaderboards or player data in bulk, or send automated traffic at the service;
  • interfere with the service, its security or other people’s use of it;
  • run a betting or gaming business. The skins page does arithmetic on a per-hole value the players choose between themselves; score70 never holds, moves or takes a share of any money, and any settling-up is entirely between the players.

If a trip or account breaks these rules we may make the trip private, remove content, or close the account — with notice where we can, without it where the situation is serious.

Your data, our software

Yours stays yours

The names, handicaps, scores and everything else you and your group enter belong to you and your group. You give us permission to store it, work out the leaderboards and stats from it, and show it to the people who can see the trip — which is what it takes to run the service, and nothing more. The privacy notice says how long we keep it and how to have it removed.

The software, the design, the words on these pages and the score70 name are ours. You may use them through the service; you may not copy the service or pass it off as your own.

Handicaps and results

Not official, and not pretending to be

score70 works out playing handicaps, Stableford points, match results and trip adjustments from the numbers your group enters. They are the group’s numbers for the group’s competition. Nothing here is an official handicap, a World Handicap System submission, or a record your club will recognise; if you need that, submit your card to your club or handicap body in the usual way.

We take care to get the arithmetic right and the formats page explains every calculation, but the entries are yours and the group is the final judge of its own results.

What we promise

Provided free, and with care

We provide score70 with reasonable care and skill, and we work to keep it available and your scores safe. But it is a free service, so we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free or uninterrupted, or that a score entered on the course will never be lost.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your rights as a consumer. Beyond that, we are not liable for any loss that was not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms, for any business loss, or for any loss arising from the content your group enters or from a link you shared. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for anything arising from the service is limited to £100.

You are responsible for the content you enter and for keeping your own record of anything you cannot afford to lose. If the service is retired, we will give you the notice and the export described above.

Ending

Leaving, or being asked to

You can stop using score70 at any time and delete your account from the account screen. An organiser can delete a trip; a deleted trip is kept briefly so a mistake can be undone, then removed as the privacy notice describes.

We can suspend or close an account, or make a trip private or remove it, if these terms are broken, if the law requires it, or if the service is being retired. Where we can, we will say why and give you a chance to take your data first.

Changes

When these terms change

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top changes when the words do. If a change matters to you — a new charge, a new limit, a new responsibility — account holders are told by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Using score70 after that date means you accept the new terms; if you do not, delete your account before then.

Law

England and Wales

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring a claim in your own courts, and nothing here takes away rights you have under the consumer law where you live.
