Eclectic

Your best score on every hole of a course, taken from any of your rounds there this trip or this season, added up as if it were one card.

  • Any number
  • Own ball
  • Side game

How it’s scored

  1. Every round on the same course counts towards it; nobody plays an eclectic, it builds itself from the cards.
  2. Each hole keeps your best: the fewest strokes in gross or net, or the most stableford points.
  3. The eclectic is the bests added up. A course you have not covered every hole of is listed under the complete ones.
  4. One eclectic per course. A trip on three courses has three.

Handicaps

Gross uses none. Net and points use the full course handicap each round was played off, as the stableford does.

The fine print

Does a pick-up count?

Not in gross or net: a blob has no number, so it is not a best. In points it is a nought, which any score on that hole beats.

Which round does a best come from?

The one it was made in. Tap a name on the board for the holes; each one opens the round it came from. A best equalled later stays with the earlier round.

What about nine-hole rounds?

The eclectic covers the holes the rounds played. A league that only plays the front nine has a nine-hole eclectic.

Does it change how a score goes in?

No. It reads the same gross scores as every other board.
